The Books of Remembrance have been placed in the Passage of Remembrance at The Island Crematorium to provide a lasting and dignified memorial.
The Books
The Books are in two volumes, one for each half year, and are beautifully bound in mid-blue ‘Chieftain Goatskin’
leather and richly tooled in gold leaf. The paper used in the Books is an archival quality paper which should have a life in excess of 300 years.
The Inscription
The entries are carefully inscribed by hand by highly skilled craftsmen in permanent colours, under date of death. Additional entries under date of birth or some other personal anniversary may also be inserted. Each day a page is turned so that on the appropriate anniversary date the inscription may be viewed. The volumes are open for each particular day and are presented within a display cabinet during the opening times of the crematorium. Should you require to see the entries on other dates, our staff are on hand to turn the leaves to the required date, provided the volume is on site.
The Memorial
Your own personal inscription may be of two, five or eight lines in length, with wording of your choice. The first line should consist of the surname and first names only, together with any title or decorations. The remaining lines are to be used for any wording desired, but should include the year of death. An example of a five line entry, with emblem, is shown below.
